Vauxhall’s handbook doesn’t print fuse ratings, so none is shown. Fit a replacement with the same rating as the fuse you remove — the handbook says: “Data on the replacement fuse must match the data on the defective fuse.”

Where is the fuse box?

Engine compartment fuse box

The fuse box is in the front left of the engine compartment.

  1. Disengage the cover and remove it.
  2. After having changed defective fuses, close the fuse box cover and press until it engages.
  3. If the fuse box cover is not closed correctly, malfunction may occur.

  1. Pull the cover and remove.
  2. Vehicles with power connector: If the fuse cover has a power connector, it must be removed by using an adapter and a screwdriver.
  3. The adapter is stowed in the glovebox.
  4. The screwdriver is stowed in the load compartment.
  5. Attach the adapter to the power connector.
  6. Push the screwdriver through the recess in the adapter.
  7. Remove the cover by pulling the screwdriver.
  8. After having changed defective fuses, close the fuse box cover and press until it engages.
  9. Vehicles with power connector:
  10. 1. Apply the cover on the right side.
  11. 2. Fold the left side of the cover forwards.
  12. Take care that the securing clamp is guided as shown in the illustration.

Where to look

  • 48

The fuse box is in the front left of the engine compartment.

The map shows where each fuse sits. Always confirm the number against the legend on the fuse box cover before pulling anything.

How to replace the fuse safely

  1. Switch off the ignition and all electrical equipment. Take the key out, or move a keyless fob away from the car.
  2. Open the fuse box and find the fuse using the number on the cover legend or the chart on this page.
  3. Pull the fuse straight out with the plastic fuse puller (usually clipped inside the fuse box) or fine-nose pliers.
  4. Look at the metal strip inside the fuse. A broken or burnt strip means it has blown.
  5. Fit a new fuse with exactly the same amperage rating. The number on top and the colour should match.
  6. Refit the cover, switch on and test the component.
  • Never fit a fuse with a higher amperage rating than specified. It can let wiring overheat.
  • Never bridge a fuse with wire, foil or anything else.

Fuse keeps blowing?

A fuse that blows again straight away is doing its job. Something on that circuit is drawing too much current. Common causes are damaged wiring shorting to the bodywork, a failing motor or socket, water getting in, or a faulty accessory. Fitting fuse after fuse, or a bigger fuse, won’t fix the fault and can overheat the wiring. Have the circuit tested by an auto electrician.

Not the fuse? Check these next.

  • Frozen or stuck blades

Blades frozen to the glass, or snow packed below the windscreen, can stall the motor and blow the fuse. Free them before switching on.

  • Loose wiper arm

If you can hear the motor running but an arm doesn’t move, the nut holding the arm or the linkage may have come loose.

  • Wiper stalk

If some speeds work and others don’t, the stalk switch is more likely than the fuse.

Fuse layouts can differ between trim levels and optional equipment. Always confirm against the legend on your fuse box.
