Partly covered: Vauxhall published August 2014, March 2015 and August 2015 Astra handbooks that could apply to a 2015 car, and their fuse charts differ. Vauxhall doesn’t say which cars each edition applies to, so we can’t tell which one matches a particular 2015 Astra. Every official chart is shown below — check the edition printed near the end of your handbook, or compare with the fuse box legend in your car, before removing anything.

Vauxhall’s 2010–2016 Astra handbooks label the engine cooling fan “Radiator fan”. “Fan control” and “engine cooling” labels are not included.
Vauxhall’s handbook doesn’t print fuse ratings, so none is shown. Fit a replacement with the same rating as the fuse you remove — the handbook says: “Data on the replacement fuse must match the data on the defective fuse.”

The map shows where each fuse sits. Always confirm the number against the legend on the fuse box cover before pulling anything.
How to replace the fuse safely
- Switch off the ignition and all electrical equipment. Take the key out, or move a keyless fob away from the car.
- Open the fuse box and find the fuse using the number on the cover legend or the chart on this page.
- Pull the fuse straight out with the plastic fuse puller (usually clipped inside the fuse box) or fine-nose pliers.
- Look at the metal strip inside the fuse. A broken or burnt strip means it has blown.
- Fit a new fuse with exactly the same amperage rating. The number on top and the colour should match.
- Refit the cover, switch on and test the component.
- Never fit a fuse with a higher amperage rating than specified. It can let wiring overheat.
- Never bridge a fuse with wire, foil or anything else.
Fuse keeps blowing?
A fuse that blows again straight away is doing its job. Something on that circuit is drawing too much current. Common causes are damaged wiring shorting to the bodywork, a failing motor or socket, water getting in, or a faulty accessory. Fitting fuse after fuse, or a bigger fuse, won’t fix the fault and can overheat the wiring. Have the circuit tested by an auto electrician.

Stop if it overheats
If the temperature gauge climbs or a warning light comes on, stop safely and switch off. Never open the coolant cap on a hot engine.
Coolant level
Check the coolant level with the engine cold. Low coolant causes overheating more often than a fan fault.
Silent fan on a cold engine
The fan normally runs only when the engine is hot or the air conditioning is on, so a silent fan on a cold engine is normal.
