Which 2016 Mokka do you have?

The starter fuse differs between versions of the 2016 Vauxhall Mokka. Until you choose, every possible result is shown.

Not sure which Mokka you have?
  • Vauxhall’s handbook prints separate fuse tables for electric and non-electric (petrol or diesel) cars: Mokka and Mokka X.
  • An electric car has a charging socket instead of a fuel filler, and no exhaust.
  • Each Vauxhall owner’s manual prints its edition near the end, for example “Edition: September 2014”. If you have your car’s handbook, choose the option with the same edition.
  • Vauxhall doesn’t say which cars each edition applies to, so the date of your car alone can’t tell you. Without the handbook, compare the circuits on each option with the legend on your fuse box before removing anything.

If you can’t confirm it, keep both results in mind and check the fuse box legend before removing anything.

Vauxhall’s handbook doesn’t print fuse ratings, so none is shown. Fit a replacement with the same rating as the fuse you remove — the handbook says: “Data on the replacement fuse must match the data on the defective fuse.”

Option A Mokka

Find it by number

Vauxhall’s handbook picture doesn’t give enough positional detail for us to draw a trustworthy map of the engine compartment fuse box (j-case fuses), so we don’t draw one — we never guess where a fuse sits.

Use the numbers printed on the fuse box, inside its cover or on the fuse box picture in your owner’s manual, and find fuse 11. Check the number before removing anything.

Where to look

  • 11

The fuse box is in the engine compartment.

    Fuse · Starter

Look for fuse number 11 on the fuse box or its cover — we don’t show positions without verified layout data.

Always confirm the number against the legend on the fuse box cover before pulling anything.

How to replace the fuse safely

  1. Switch off the ignition and all electrical equipment. Take the key out, or move a keyless fob away from the car.
  2. Open the fuse box and find the fuse using the number on the cover legend or the chart on this page.
  3. Pull the fuse straight out with the plastic fuse puller (usually clipped inside the fuse box) or fine-nose pliers.
  4. Look at the metal strip inside the fuse. A broken or burnt strip means it has blown.
  5. Fit a new fuse with exactly the same amperage rating. The number on top and the colour should match.
  6. Refit the cover, switch on and test the component.
  • Never fit a fuse with a higher amperage rating than specified. It can let wiring overheat.
  • Never bridge a fuse with wire, foil or anything else.

Fuse keeps blowing?

A fuse that blows again straight away is doing its job. Something on that circuit is drawing too much current. Common causes are damaged wiring shorting to the bodywork, a failing motor or socket, water getting in, or a faulty accessory. Fitting fuse after fuse, or a bigger fuse, won’t fix the fault and can overheat the wiring. Have the circuit tested by an auto electrician.

Not the fuse? Check these next.

  • Battery charge

Clicking, slow cranking or dim dash lights usually mean a flat battery, not a fuse.

  • Battery terminals

Loose or corroded terminals can stop the starter even with a good battery.

  • Immobiliser

A flashing security light can mean the key isn’t recognised. Try the spare key.

  • Clutch or gear selector switch

Many cars only crank with the clutch fully pressed, or in Park/Neutral on automatics.

  • Starter motor or solenoid

A single loud click with good battery voltage often points to the starter itself.

Fuse layouts can differ between trim levels and optional equipment. Always confirm against the legend on your fuse box.
