Partly covered: Vauxhall published August 2017, January 2018, March 2018 and August 2018 Astra handbooks that could apply to a 2018 car, and their fuse charts differ. Vauxhall doesn’t say which cars each edition applies to, so we can’t tell which one matches a particular 2018 Astra. Every official chart is shown below — check the edition printed near the end of your handbook, or compare with the fuse box legend in your car, before removing anything.

Vauxhall’s handbook doesn’t print fuse ratings, so none is shown. Fit a replacement with the same rating as the fuse you remove — the handbook says: “Data on the replacement fuse must match the data on the defective fuse.”

The fuses are the same in every handbook edition shown here — only the steps for opening this fuse box are worded differently:

The map shows where each fuse sits. Always confirm the number against the legend on the fuse box cover before pulling anything.
How to replace the fuse safely
- Switch off the ignition and all electrical equipment. Take the key out, or move a keyless fob away from the car.
- Open the fuse box and find the fuse using the number on the cover legend or the chart on this page.
- Pull the fuse straight out with the plastic fuse puller (usually clipped inside the fuse box) or fine-nose pliers.
- Look at the metal strip inside the fuse. A broken or burnt strip means it has blown.
- Fit a new fuse with exactly the same amperage rating. The number on top and the colour should match.
- Refit the cover, switch on and test the component.
- Never fit a fuse with a higher amperage rating than specified. It can let wiring overheat.
- Never bridge a fuse with wire, foil or anything else.
Fuse keeps blowing?
A fuse that blows again straight away is doing its job. Something on that circuit is drawing too much current. Common causes are damaged wiring shorting to the bodywork, a failing motor or socket, water getting in, or a faulty accessory. Fitting fuse after fuse, or a bigger fuse, won’t fix the fault and can overheat the wiring. Have the circuit tested by an auto electrician.

Try another cable and device
Worn cables are the most common cause. Test with a cable and phone you know work.
Check the ignition position
USB sockets often only have power with the ignition on or the engine running.
Look inside the port
Dust or debris in the port can stop the plug seating. Clean it gently with the ignition off, using a non-metallic tool.
